Explore the GR21 from Hôtel Le Grand Pavois in Fécamp

The GR21 is famous for its varied landscapes, alternating between majestic chalk cliffs, verdant forests and picturesque villages. This long-distance hiking trail promises breathtaking panoramas and elevation changes that will delight lovers of sporty trekking. Beyond the spectacular views of the coast, venture into the Cauchois hinterland to discover a rich heritage : castles, manor houses, mills, dovecots and clos-masures dot the route.

For walkers departing from Fécamp, reach Etretat in around 6 hours. Along the way, you'll cross the picturesque valleys of Grainval and Vaucottes and discover Yport, a charming fishing village.

If you'd like to explore the countryside, take the GR21b from Yport. This path takes you along the Quarante Acres wood to Les Hogues. If you still have the energy, continue on to the Bois des Hogues to reach the Les Pommiers campsite, offering an even deeper immersion in Norman nature.

On the other side of Fécamp, the beaches of the Petites Dalles are revealed after a 6-hour walk, passing through the village of Saint-Pierre-en-Port. These valleys offer a striking contrast between the turquoise sea and lush green meadows, dominated by white chalk cliffs.

Fécamp - Etretat route

Start your adventure at the Casino de Fécamp and head for the famous beach of Etretat. This 18.7 km route will take you around 6 hours to complete. You'll marvel at the majestic chalk cliffs and picturesque valleys you pass along the way.

For the best possible experience, we recommend that you prepare your hike carefully. Don't forget to bring water, snacks and good walking shoes. To personalize your return, bus line no. 24 serves the following stops: Gare de Fécamp, Eglise d'Yport and Mairie d'Etretat.

Fécamp - Yport route

If you're looking for a shorter hike, opt for the Fécamp - Yport route. This 6.5 km trail takes around 1h30 to complete, offering a pleasant stroll accessible to all.

Itinerary :

  • Start: Fécamp Casino
  • Finish: Yport beach
  • Distance: 6.5 km
  • Duration: Approx. 1h30 walk

This hike starts from the Casino de Fécamp parking lot, on the left at the foot of the stairs. Follow the corniche path through the campsite. As this trail does not form a loop, you can personalize your itinerary by taking bus line no. 24 (stops : Gare de Fécamp, Eglise d'Yport and Mairie d'Etretat).

Fécamp - Petites Dalles route

Start from the Fécamp Tourist Office parking lot. Cross the Pont Gayant, then continue left to the sente aux matelots on your right. Along the way, you'll marvel at the chalk cliffs, picturesque villages and lush green valleys you pass.

As this route does not form a loop, you can personalize your itinerary by taking the n°60 bus. The stops at Eletot, Saint-Pierre-en-Port and Sassetot le Mauconduit will enable you to tailor your return journey to suit your mood and level of fatigue.

Whether you're a short walker or a long-distance hiker, explore the 19 hiking trails in the Fécamp Caux Littoral conurbation. Listed in the Plan Départemental des Espaces, Sites et Itinéraires (PDESI), these 6.5 to 17 km circuits invite you to discover the treasures of the Cauchoise coastline and countryside.

Route n°12: La Côte de la Vierge

 

Explore the "Côte de la Vierge" circuit, starting at the Sente aux Matelots and climbing to Cap Fagnet. This historic route, once used by sailors and pilgrims, offers spectacular views of the Côte d'Albâtre. Visit the Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Salut, famous for its marine votive offerings, and discover the former Abbaye de la Sainte-Trinité, a 13th-century Gothic gem. The highest point, Cap Fagnet, is home to a bird sanctuary and protected flora.

The "Au Cœur des Deux Vallées" circuit is a 12 km ride, ideal for a 3-hour outing. For the 2024 season, Le Grand Pavois invites you to a series of 20 free guided walks, organized by the Agglomération from April to October. These themed escapades are designed to immerse you in the fascinating heritage, nature and history of our region

Each hike offers a unique opportunity to discover the hidden gems of the surrounding communes, while getting some fresh air and exercise in a convivial setting. Some walks, such as the night-time explorations, require prior registration on the Fécamp Tourist Office website.

The themes covered are varied and captivating: explore the local heritage with visits to Limpiville and the hamlets of Angerville, or immerse yourself in nature with discoveries about barley and the specific features of the valleys. Practical activities such as quizzes and Nordic walking initiations enrich these unique experiences.
